Oaseo BlogFriday, November 17, 2006 Kickin' DMOZ
Site Reference has a great article bashing ever-important directory DMOZ.
Most DMOZ editors think they are a cut above the rest of us. They believe they hold the key to life or death – that for obviously meritocratic reasons they have been selected to wield power over webmasters who need to come crawling to them to plead their case. The problem starts at the top – the senior editors are geeks who’ve been operating in the upper hierarchy of DMOZ since the time that only computer geeks were really interested in the role. Like many geeks, they’re very intelligent but kinda out of touch with aspects of the real world. It's all good and very true from my experience. See the rest here.

Another dark comedy about DMOZ... or at least I hope it is ;) , is the "corrupt DMOZ editor" blog, and the "dmoz sucks" site (google for both) which goes a bit further into the bizarre backgrounds of that site.

I've had my own frustrations with them. I had a site removed because I asked them to fix the grammar they used on my description. Bah! I'm hoping Google places less trust in any sites included in their listings and more on user data. That would be harder to spoof than a discreet Paypal payment. << Home ArchivesAugust 2006 September 2006 October 2006 November 2006 December 2006 January 2007 February 2007 March 2007 |
